Frequently asked questions

Does having filler hurt?

The first couple of injections you will feel a sharp scratch. As we go along it hurts less & less due to the numbing agent in the filler (lidocaine). Once the treatment is over you shouldn't feel any pain. You may feel a little tender and can use paracetamol to remedy this.

How long does the swelling last?

The swelling can last anywhere from 24 hours - 14 days. On average it lasts 2-5 days, however, this all depends on the individual and their aftercare.

How can I ease the swelling?

There are a multitude of methods to ease swelling, however, I recommend these:

1. Ice- apply a cold compress

2. Antihistamines have been known to help with excessive swelling

3. Apply castor oil topically. This is a natural anti-inflammatory that can help bring down any swelling whilst also aiding the healing process

Will I bruise?

You might bruise. It's likely and normal to have bruising, although some people experience no bruising at all. This is all dependent on your facial anatomy and diet.

Ways to prevent bruising include:

1. Eat pineapples before your appointment. Pineapples contain Bromelain, an anti-inflammatory that can help reduce bruising and swelling

2. Take arnica pills before the appointment & use arnica cream after the treatment

3. Have Vitamin C rich foods before and after your treatment

Can I numb myself up before my appointment?

I understand having filler may be a little bit daunting, however, please do not pre-numb before your appointment!

The area of treatment will be sufficiently numbed upon your arrival.

Using too much numbing cream lightens the colour of your lips and makes it difficult to see if you have a healthy blood flow, which is vital to check before proceeding with any treatment.

Therefore, we prefer if you do not self numb.

How long will it take?

This is usually dependent on the treatment, however, it usually goes like this:

1. Numbing up = 15 minutes

2. Consultation = 10 minutes

3. Treatment = 5 to 15 minutes

These times can vary, especially if you like a chinwag

If you need to leave at a certain time, let us know and we will make sure to accommodate this

It's my first time, should I get 0.5ml?

Unfortunately, 0.5ml of filler isn't likely to make much of a difference if it's your first time having filler.

We typically recommend 0.5ml to clients who have already built their lips and want a little top-up.

1.1ml is recommended. It gives a natural finish that lasts much longer than 0.5ml.

How soon can I get a top-up?

You can have a top-up as soon as 14 days, although i do recommend waiting a month

Can you fix my botched lips?

Yes. Whether this means adding more filler, lancing misplaced superficial filler out, dissolving lumps, a saline flush, or just a massage of the lips, I can help.

DM me with a picture of your lips and I can give you my recommendations.

If I naturally have larger lips, would you still recommend having 1.1ml?

With bigger lips there tends to be more space to fill, meaning you may need more filler than someone with smaller lips to make a noticeable difference. 1.1ml would be recommended.

Would you recommend jaw or chin filler for a double chin?

For stubborn fat and overall a smoother jawline, I would recommend fat dissolving.

Filler is great if you have a weak jawline and wish to add structure and a more defined streamlined jaw.

You could opt for both, fat dissolving first & filler 4-6 weeks later for the best results
